Who We Are

Tahir Uysal

Uysal was born in Turkey. He graduated from the department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Birmingham University, England in 1980. After graduation he worked as a research assistant at Erdemli, Mersin campus of Middle East Technical University. He also received his Master’s Degree in Marine Sciences (Underwater Acoustics).

In 1984, Uysal joined Schlumberger Overseas S.A. (Wireless and Testing) and worked in various positions in Brunei, Japan, China and India. In 1991 he joined BP Turkey and held a range of management positions in Supply and Distribution, Human Resources, Shared Services, and Commercial Management.

In July 2000 he became the Country President of BP Turkey and remained in that position till October 2008. During those years he was also responsible for the ATAS Refinery (2002-2003).
Uysal was also the Chairman of PETDER (Petroleum Industry Association) from 2002 to 2004 and Chairman of PETFORM (Petroleum Platform Association) during 2004 & 2005.
He was elected as Chairman of YASED (International Investors’ Association, Istanbul Turkey) in 2007 a post which he relinquished in Feb 2009.

Mr. Uysal brings many years of experience in international business, with a specialty in oil and gas.
